This flying bird is the mark of the 18th-century F This flying bird is the mark of the 18th-century French Arras factory.⁠ ⁠ The Arras Porcelain factory was started in the 1770s by the family Delemers. They were a family of four sisters who set up a porcelain factory employing as many as 20 people. The factory lasted for just twenty years. This pair of polychrome figures of recumbent cows This pair of polychrome figures of recumbent cows was made in Delft, circa 1760.⁠ ⁠ Each cow shows a spotted hide and brown forelock, eyes, horns, and tail. Each is wearing a delicate garland of flowers around its neck, and on its back is a colorful blanket of flowers. The colors are soft yet vibrant. They are modeled lying on the “green grass” top of a conforming base. Introducing our Item of the Month, a Chelsea Red A Introducing our Item of the Month, a Chelsea Red Anchor period porcelain dish, dating from 1752-56.⁠ ⁠ The charm of this Chelsea soft paste porcelain dish lies in the quality of the soft paste porcelain itself, the warm white glaze, and the soft colors of the fabulous hand-painted flowers and insects. The flowers and insects are painted in exquisite soft colors, which seem to sink into the soft paste porcelain.⁠ ⁠ Begun in 1743, the Chelsea porcelain factory was England’s first important porcelain manufacturer. The factory made soft paste porcelain which is different than “true” hard paste porcelain and does not require the high firing temperatures or the unique mineral ingredients needed for “true” hard paste porcelain.
