Antique agateware pottery vase made by Neale & Co. This 18th century small vase is a gem of solid agateware. It was made by wedging colored clays together to form a solid agate body. This vase is an extraordinary example of true agateware. Agateware is something that we are constantly looking for, but rarely find. On either side of the vase sit creamware masks of aged kings. Connecting each mask is a leaf trellis framing two medallions: one a scholar, and the other a flower.
What makes this vase so wonderful is the combination of the clays creating beautiful swirling designs in shades of brown, light blue, and cream.
