Antique Chinese Garden Seats Painted with Figures of Immortals

A pair of antique Chinese garden seats painted with figures of immortals. These beautifully enameled hexagonal Chinese garden seats date to the late Qing or very early Republican periods (at the beginning of the 20th century).

Each of the pair of garden seats is fully decorated with a unique scene showing figures surrounded by spectacular mountains and luxuriant pine trees. These are time-honored symbols of longevity. Residing in the picturesque paradise, the deities are seen enjoying the music played by fairies while riding on the colorful clouds.

Each seat has two pairs of light pink double-coin patterns. This attractive ornament echoes the single coin decoration on the top of each seat. Around the coin pattern, are deities. Of particular interest on each seat we see two ladies in exquisite dresses riding on a flying phoenix.

Altogether this pair of lavishly painted Chinese garden seats convey good wishes of longevity.
They can be easily placed in a room either as end tables or for additional seating in a sun-room or living room.
