An antique English Delft blue and white bottle vase made in the mid 1700’s in London. This delftware vase is painted in deep inky cobalt blue and white under a pale blue glaze. It is the deepest cobalt blue we have ever seen. The decoration features three large flowers, leaves, and scrolling vines.
This wonderful vase will stand alone, or enhance a group of other blue and white pieces. It is a graceful form. Looking down from above we see that the inner rim of the flared spout is also painted with leaves and scrolling vines.
This bottle vase would be a special object to add to any collection of Delft blue and white.

When Europeans first became acquainted with Chinese porcelain in the 17th century it was Blue and White which predominated. The decoration of Dutch and English Delft was strongly influenced by these Chinese porcelains.
