A naive 18th-century blue and white Delft charger painted in cobalt blue with a scene showing a Long Eliza seated in a chinoiserie garden. She’s surrounded by lush scrolling vines and foliage. The border is decorated with linked concentric circles
Long Eliza is the traditional name for the Chinese export decoration of elongated women or, in some cases, a small boy. The name is a translation of the Dutch “Lange Lijzen.”
