This large hand-painted blue and white Chinese porcelain platter was made in the 18th century, Qianlong period, circa 1780.
The scene shows a harbor with flower-filled trees, pagodas, rockwork, and distant mountains. Small details add to the beauty of the scene. We see a solitary figure walking across a bridge. There are ships on the water and birds in the sky.
This imagery is the model for the 19th century English “Willow” pattern.
The platter measures: 16.5″ x 13.25″.
