Chinese Export Dish with Shepherdess Holding a Lamb

This Chinese Export dish is painted in grisaille, iron-red, and gilt and shows a shepherdess in a straw hat seated beside a tree trunk. She is holding a lamb at her side. Her skin is picked out in flesh tones, her lips in iron red. The border has a gilt spearhead band and a gilded design (slightly faded) along the outer edge.

Made in the Qianlong period circa 1740.

清代乾隆时期(约1740年)的外销瓷盘。盘内装饰以灰色调为主,一位戴草帽的牧羊人倚靠在树干边上,手抚羊羔。草帽上方一朵白芙蓉悠然绽放,象征着牧羊人的纯洁品质。她的耳环以金料着色,铁红色釉料进一步勾勒出其红唇与美肌。 盘的边缘一圈绘有稍褪色的镀金设计。
