A Coalport footed fruit bowl featuring Imari decoration, and a large dragon in the well of the bowl. Made in England circa 1820 this piece has bright and lively coloring which contrasts and showcases the dark cobalt blue dragon.
Much English Regency period porcelain drew inspiration from Japanese and Chinese porcelains of the 18th century. They were painted in a palette of luminous enamel colors. Coalport and other English manufacturers of porcelain created a white porcelain on which these enamels were truly gleaming.
This bowl would be beautiful in a traditional or a contemporary home.
