Pair of Staffordshire creamware porcelain wall pockets ca. 1790.
These outstanding late 18th century English creamware wall pockets depict two Bacchic boys clasping grapes and wine bottles. They have painted details with cobalt blue, green, and brown colors. The top of the wall pocket features a foliate border.

References: On page 104 of Prattware by J & G Lewis the illustration shows this pair of wall pockets. The text says, “A boy holding a flaming brazier of fire in high relief, emblematic of winter, a quiver at his side. The other represents autumn. Possibly made at Leeds Pottery, but unmarked.”
