Background of Chamberlain’s Worcester
Robert Chamberlain and his son Humphrey began by decorating porcelains produced by the original Worcester factory in the 1770s–1780s.
In 1793, they founded their own porcelain works in Worcester.
Chamberlains Worcester quickly earned a reputation for exceptionally high-quality hand-painting and gilding, achieving royal patronage.
Many of their designs, like this one, were inspired by Japanese and Chinese porcelain from the 18th century, interpreted through the lens of early 19th-century English taste.
