Background of cat’s eye decoration

According to “Mocha and related dipped wares” by Jonathan Rickard, “A different color of the slip was placed in each of three compartments. Goose quills were inserted into …the cups… When the device was tipped forward a single drop of slip onto the pot on the lathe, it formed the decorative device collectors have dubbed “cat’s eye”.
