We are pleased to offer this mochaware mug with twig and wavy line decoration made in England circa 1830. Wide horizontal bands of taupe and light blue slip are separated by thin double bands of midnight brown slip. The taupe band is decorated with a white slip wavy line and the light blue band is decorated with a white slip twig design. The slip for the wavy line and twig design was applied through a quill while the mug was turned on the lathe.

A paper label on the bottom of the mug notes that the mug is part of the “Rickard Collection.” Jonathan Rickard is a renowned collector of mochaware and the author of Mocha and related dipped wares.
