A pair of Chinese monochrome red ginger jars dated to Xianfeng and Tongzhi periods. (1831-1875). The deep red glaze is rich and fully covers the body of each jar. The elegant potting of the vessels and the bold use of color are marvelous. Around the mouth, some traces of purple tints can be noticed. This adds a touch of liveliness to the intense red color. The crimson color is based on the deep red glaze used on earlier 15th century imperial pieces.
These monochrome jars have a simple timeless elegance and beauty. They will be perfect additions to a minimalist modern home as well as a traditional home.
