This pair of large blue and white antique Chinese porcelain jars has exquisite decoration. The jars were hand painted in the Qing dynasty in the second half of the 19th century. We see crisp white blossoms painted on a ground of beautiful cobalt blue. These fruit tree blossoms are the first to blossom after winter. Because of this, these white blossoms are associated with endurance through the snowy winter and the rebirth of nature in the spring. In Chinese tradition, fruit tree blossoms are considered first among flowers. They symbolize strength and hope.
