Pair Staffordshire Figures the Farm Girl and the Aristocrat England, Circa 1810

$1,160.00

Made circa 1810, The Farm Girl and The Country Aristocrat is a lovely, well-modeled pair of Staffordshire figures representative of women in early 19th-century England. The Farm Girl shows a barefoot young woman returning from a wheat field. Her hair is tucked into a bonnet. Her cheeks are rosy from a day in the fields. She holds a scythe in one hand and a sheaf of wheat in the other. The Aristocrat shows a woman with a stylish hat topped by a feather. She wears a colorful dress and a turquoise jacket. Her hair is worn long. In neat black shoes, her feet are thinner than the Farm Girl’s. She carries an arrow and a walking stick. From behind, we see she has a quiver of arrows and a target for archery, a popular sport for aristocratic English ladies in this period.

Dimensions: 7.25″ tall x 2.65″ wide x 2.65″ deep

Condition: Excellent (the end of the carrying case for the arrows shows a few minor paint flakes).
