Small Mochaware mug made in England, circa 1820.
Decorated with two bands of black engine-turned diamonds and bands of brown slip. The piece has a surprisingly modern look considering it was made 200 years ago. For more information on this type of mocha ware see “Moca and related dipped wares”, by Jonathan Rickard which has a chapter on “Solid-Color Slip Fields and Banded Wares”.
Diameter 2.75″ x 2.5″ tall
Some excellent restoration to the inside of the mug.
