This pair of antique porcelain plates was hand painted at Spode in Stoke, Staffordshire, England, circa 1820.
Each plate is decorated with a wide gilt rim, an inner gilt circle, and small hand-painted gilt floral sprigs on a clean white porcelain ground.
The design is elegant and restrained.
The gilding is especially bright.
The broad gold rim gives each plate a strong visual frame, while the scattered floral sprigs add a light Regency character.
