Made in the early twentieth century, the platinum decoration on this Wedgwood pottery service changes with the light.
At some angles, it reflects like polished silver or a mirror; at others, the same lines appear nearly black.
The service includes ten round plates, a pair of oval serving dishes, and a round serving bowl, each decorated with a stylized border featuring mirror-like platinum and floral decoration in orange and green.
The style has a strong Art Deco period feeling.
The color is fresh, the border design is bold.
The outstanding mirror-like platinum gilt gives the service a bright, refined finish (see image #2).
The orange flowers and green leaves are simplified into repeated decorative shapes, in keeping with early twentieth-century design.
The scalloped edge adds movement to the design.
And the pair of oval serving dishes makes the group especially useful for a table setting or display.
